A night of photos and dance for a good cause

ROME, March 3 -- On Friday, John Cabot University held a show called “Arcobaleno di Danza e Fotografia” ("Rainbow of Dance and Photography") to benefit the Italian Parkinson's Association, raising funds and raising awareness for dance therapy.

Francesca Maruffi began the evening with a reading entitled “Voci Del Silenzio” (Voices of Silence). Maruffi described how silence is “the voice of an unexplored world.” People's words are “a rainbow of sounds, thoughts, emotions, and a rainbow of infinite colors in a sky of quite words,” she said.

Then different dance routines were choreographed by Giovanna Ricci and Monia Schietroma. The dancers were from two dance schools, Latin Style and Rhythm Tap. They danced merengue, salsa, tap, and jazz among others.

JCU snappers take aim on Rome's catwalk

ROME, Feb. 14 - Last Sunday, the word “hysterics” did not hold its usual meaning. 

On Feb. 10, a group of young designers calling themselves “The Hysterics”, organized an independent fashion show at Il Circolo degli Artisti. This place, well known to young Romans, offered the perfect set. Live performances and an aperitivo were followed by a craft market. Alternative designers exposed their work while models prepared for the catwalk. Even the preparation was a spectacle. Hairdressers were working in an open stand where people could look on. Two punk rock bands opened the evening with a raucous set.

And John Cabot University student photographers were in the crowd, cameras aimed and ready.
