JCU Career Week ends with hopes of internships and job offers
By Celestina Roddy
Rome, April 6 – It was that time of year again at John Cabot University when companies from all over come in to present what they are about and to inform prospective employees what they look for when recruiting.
Career Week occurs twice a year, in April and November, helping students and alumni determine a career path.
Some of the companies in attendance this semester were: The United States Embassy, International Development Law Organization, Burson Marsteller, World Food Program, Cegos Search, Resintex, Orion and Sarel.
On Friday, the day's events began early, starting at 9 a.m. and lasting until 5:30 p.m. Each company gave presentations in the Aula Magna Regina auditorium where they spoke about internships available to JCU students as well as their company credos and mission statements. There was time left in between for questions and answers from the audience, followed by a brief coffee break and lunch provided by JCU that allowed more time for everyone to familiarize themselves with one another before the interviews, which took place the last two hours.
Any
students who were interested in participating in Career Day were
required to send in their CVs/Resumes to JCU’s career services
coordinator, LauraDelli Ficorelli, which were then passed on to the companies on hand.
Degree-seeking juniors Mai Ada and Giulia Lorenzini were two of the students who waited eagerly for their turn to be interviewed. Ada, a major in International Affairs, interviewed with the World Food Program, and Lorenzini interviewed with both the World Food Program and IDLO.
Lorenzini remarked, “I really appreciated the first half of career day, and really like the U.S .Embassy presentation. I have already interned with the U.S. Embassy here in Rome and would like to do it again.”
After the interviews, each company handed the interviewees their information informing students and prospective graduates to keep in contact and wait patiently for a response.
JCU students interested in the next career fair in November should contact the career services team in advance.
