All good things must come to an end; In Rome, it's 'saldi' season
ROME, Feb. 13—Roman sale season will end in just over 48 hours.
Shoppers, there are only a couple days to go before the winter sale season ends in Rome. In the next two days, the colorful "SALDI" signs plastered in store windows will no longer be so alluring.
Roman authorities carefully regulate sales in the city only permitting stores to have them twice a year. (Similarly, the sales across Italy will be coming to an end shortly, if they haven't already done so).
The winter sales season is from January to February and the summer season is from July to August. According to Italian law, sales can only take place legally between the dates authorized.
“Saldi always finishes [around the] same time as told by [the] government,” a store manager at Gio’, located off of Via Ottaviano and Viale Giulio Cesare, told The Matthew Online. The manager said their sale ended two days ago, but racks still contain discounted items.
Store markdowns range from 20 to 50 percent off retail inventory. The deals help to make room for new collections by clearing out the last season’s styles.
Meanhwhile, the clock continues to count down down to the sales' end. Before it hits zero, pencil time in to be enticed by the gaudy signs and buy more for your already weak buck.
